In the mid-1980s, several game designers for software company Brøderbund were throwing around a plastic globe while workshopping an idea for a new computer game.1 Their ideas were realized, and Brøderbund released Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? (1985). Brøderbund capitalized on the success of the game and went on to release Where in the U.S.A. Is Carmen Sandiego? (1986), Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego? (1989), and eight other video games.
