It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Making studies in black and white will help you to understand your subject and will lead to more successful work later when you use color. In this project, you’ll set up a still life and practice the process of observing your subject and painting it with sensitive tone and modeling, giving it presence in realistic three-dimensional space.
