Part FourKnowing Your Business

As I hope I’ve driven home, this is a business you’re getting into—show business, the film business, the screenwriting business. No one is in this because it’s their favorite charity—everyone’s in it to make money. Of course, after an actor/producer/company has made a ton of money, they might be inclined to support making films that they aren’t sure will make money but that are just high quality films—but they’ll only do that at the point they can afford to do so because they have other, bigger films that could offset the loss on this smaller, quality, perhaps character-driven film.

Getting to know the business you want to get yourself into is crucial.
