Larson Scanner
Fans of both the original and remake of the TV series Battlestar Galactica will be familiar with the enemy of humankind, the Cylons. These robots came in various guises, some of which had a sinister red scanning light display. The famous TV series Knight Rider featured a car called KIT that had a similar light display on the front. These types of LED display are called Larson scanners after Glen A. Larson, the producer of both the original Battlestar Galactica and Knight Rider.
