Although displaying something on an LCD module is pretty straightforward, it can be surprisingly difficult to write the sketches for comparatively simple projects such as a timer that need to vary what is displayed. This is such a project. The hardware is easy, but the software a little more tricky. Figure 34-1 shows the project in action.
