MARYAM ALAVI is the Elizabeth D. & Thomas M. Holder Chair & Professor of IT Management, Scheller College of Business, Georgia Institute of Technology.
MARK ERLICH is a Wertheim Fellow at Harvard Law School’s Center for Labor and a Just Economy. He spent over 40 years in the construction industry as a carpenter, foreman, superintendent, and union official. He was first elected to lead his local in 1992, then to the position of head of the 25,000-member New England Carpenters Union in 2005, and he retired 12 years later. He is also the author of two books and numerous articles on labor and politics, most recently The Way We Build: Restoring Dignity to Construction Work.
