5.1 Introduction
In Chapter 3, we studied the behaviour of a single component substance. However, there exists many thermal systems, notably where mixture of pure substances is used as working fluid. We would like to develop methods so that these can be analysed, like single component systems, without complexity. Chemical reaction is another field where the chemical composition of mixture of a number of single components changes the process during which heat is liberated to or extracted from the surroundings.
