Low-intensity applications are those where the primary purpose is to transmit the energy through a medium and measure a property, parameter, or characteristic, based on analysis of the response. The objective, in these cases, is never to change the state of the medium; that is, the energy level is so low that the medium remains unchanged from its original state after the wave has passed through it.
