Order Variables
The levels of a nominal or ordinal variable on a graph are ordered alphabetically by default. There are
two ways that you can modify this order:
•Use the
Value Ordering column property.
•Use a second variable.
Use a Second Variable
A nominal or ordinal variable can be ordered only by a numeric variable. The variable that does the
ordering has to be numeric so that an average can be computed for each level of the categorical variable.
Note: If you try to order a numeric variable with another numeric variable, JMP defaults to a merge.
