Chapter 18. Location and maps

Location and maps are supported in Windows Phone by two sets of APIs: the location APIs and the map APIs. Each of these also comes in two flavors: Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 8. If you want to build an app that targets both Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 8 (or indeed both Windows Phone and desktop Windows or web Silverlight), you should use the Windows Phone 7 APIs because those work on both versions of the platform.
