After a PPP connection is established, it can be terminated at any time by either the connection-initiating or connection-receiving PPP peer. PPP connections can be terminated by user action, connection policy action (such as terminating the connection after a specific amount of idle time), or link failure. When the PPP connection terminates, PPP informs the data protocols that were operating over it that the point-to-point interface is no longer available.
