Think I speak too bluntly about money? Wait until you meet Rachel Rodgers! Rodgers writes that “Every woman needs to see at least seven zeros in her bank account, at the bottom of her own balance sheet, and in her cumulative net worth. Every woman needs to know what it feels like to wield economic power. That's how we make change. That's how we serve our children. That's how we serve the world.”1
Even if you're not a woman, I'm confident you can see how all people could benefit from economic power and agency in their lives. Rodgers is a Black woman, wife, mother of four, and multimillionaire.2 She is the owner of Hello Seven and We Should All Be Millionaires: The Club. She is the author of We Should All Be Millionaires,3 a book that has profoundly changed my life. I've listened to every word of that audiobook four times. In this chapter, we're going to talk about earning more, why to shoot for seven figures, and why to watch the cost of living expenses, debt, and lifestyle creep.
Shoot for Seven Figures
Why is Rodgers' goal seven figures, not six figures? “Even in the most affordable metro areas in the United States, $100,000 households are left with 2% disposable income. (That's only $2,000 per year.)
