When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Setting up our GraphQL types
As we just saw, GraphQL types can be a little bit complicated to set up. With the aid of type-graphql and some handy decorators, we are going to create a schema to represent a single item.
We don't need to worry about creating a type to represent multiple items just yet. Our item will consist of the following fields:
- Id (defaulted to an empty string)
- Title
- Description (we are going to set this up as a nullable value for the moment. When we create the UI, we are going to add validation to make sure that we always supply a description.)
- The date the task is due (again, this is nullable)
- When the task was created
- The number of days since the task was created (this will be automatically calculated when we query the ...
