CHAPTER 9The Convergence of Healthcare AI Technology
“To create greater convergence, we need more integration.”
—Emmanuel Macron
The next phase of innovation comes from the convergence of technologies. As more technology is used to bolster processes, functions, and tasks we do every day, we run the risk of making things more complex than they need to be. Because of the fast rate of technological adaption and reliance on technology, it is critical to take a good hard look at what we can do as clinicians, leaders, healthcare innovators, and technologists to ensure that the future of medicine is delivered with more simplicity. The large-scale applications, programs, and systems that are deployed and managed are now being integrated at a fast-growing rate. All of this integration creates the convergence of systems and opportunities to scale the systems up but also out to create resiliency, more computing power, and essentially more flexibility to leverage systems as a whole for more insights. It is critical as AI progresses into the future and there is a need to manage it as a whole that we make sure that the AIOps platform is positioned to do just that.
This chapter discusses the use of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and healthcare operations in an IT setting that holistically leverages not only AIOps, but also other technologies and solutions. We want to consider the umbrella effect when we use AIOps. The more we are able to cover with AIOps, the better ...
