I have attempted to compile a definitive list of the most common terms in the production of contemporary animated films, games, and commercials, in addition to those that have been used traditionally. Many of the terms referred to are not necessarily used in this current publication and there may be omissions, since terminology and procedures differ from individual to individual, studio to studio, and country to country. In addition, this is not a comprehensive list of software-specific terms, as there are so many options available. However, the following is my best effort at the task and I hope readers will find what follows a useful and informative source of reference.
