Applied Medical Image Processing: A Basic Course is a superbly measured introduction to the field of medical imaging. Albert Einstein is purported to have said “The grand aim of all science is to cover the greatest number of empirical facts by logical deduction from the smallest number of hypotheses and axioms”. I think Einstein might have been pleased with this wonderful work by Wolfgang Birkfellner (with contributions by Michael Figl and Johann Hummel) who have adroitly tackled the challenge of “less is more” with their basic course on medical image processing.
