Preface to the Second Edition

Four years after completing the first edition of our textbook, which resulted from a series of lectures given by us in courses at the Medical University of Vienna as well as other institutions, we now present a second edition of our work. The general outline and the topics of the book have stayed the same, but with growing experience in using the teaching materials presented here, we felt that a little update would be warranted.
