Premise: This chapter focuses on the creative possibilities of music, sound, and noise as integral creative elements of art and media design.

Music, sound, and noise as modern subjects of study have a symbiotic relationship, but in contemporary times, it is generally accepted that music and noise function under the umbrella of sound.1 The acknowledgement of music as a specific form of sound opens the way for new approaches to composing music, including the possibility to incorporate sound from the actual world as part of a musical composition, as happens to take place during the early half of the twentieth century.2
