I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How to do it...
Here's the workflow for in-place deployment:
- First of all, your application code should be ready with the AppSpec.yml file inside the root directory of the application. Then, bundle the application code and AppSpec.yml file into an archive file and push it to the AWS S3 bucket or GitHub. This file is known as revision.
- Second, we have to provide information on deployment-related components in AWS CodeDeploy such as from which s3 bucket or GitHub repository, revisions should get pulled and in which set of instance or auto scaling group those revision should get deployed.
- Now, at this stage, the AWS CodeDeploy agent is installed on each instance polls AWS CodeDeploy to check what and when to pull from the AWS S3 bucket or GitHub ...
