I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

The image on the cover of Baseball Hacks is an umpire’s indicator. The umpire’s indicator is a handheld device that umpires use to track the progress of baseball games by recording strikes, balls, outs, and innings. Different varieties have either three or four dials and are made of plastic, aluminum, or stainless steel. Prices vary depending on make and model, but most sell for about $3 at sporting goods stores. In the early 1900s, umpire’s indicators were made of celluloid and had two dials to track strikes and balls. The National Baseball Hall of Fame exhibits an umpire’s indicator from 1887 with a five-ball, four-strike count (in the 19th century, the rules for walks and strikeouts varied from season to season). Antique umpire’s indicators are prized by sports memorabilia collectors and can sell for as much as $5,000.
