Radio journalists are increasingly called upon to act as producers for speech programmes. Many of the basic qualities are the same, but the role of a programme producer is a demanding one and requires additional skills to those of reporter, broadcast journalist or news presenter.

THE PRODUCER

Responsibilities

The Producer is the person who is ultimately responsible for the content and style of a particular programme. He or she is the person to whom the Programme Director delegates authority over the output for the duration of a programme. It is he or she who has the final decision over what goes in and what gets left out.
