Getting television and video programming along with music and talk programming for free—meaning no monthly fees ever—is the entire single-minded focus of this book. After you bear the modest cost of the FTA receiver and take the time to set it up properly, the only cost of FTA operation is a very modest amount of electrical energy necessary to run the TV set and satellite receiver system.
Electrical power consumption will vary with the size of the TV and additional equipment. On the low end, a 30-watt FTA receiver and a 70-watt 22-inch flat screen TV, if left on 24/7 for a year with an electric utility power cost of 15 cents per kilowatt hour, would cost less than $150 per year, ...
