When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Unit tests
Our unit tests go right down to the bottom of the pyramid. This book was never intended to be a lesson in TDD, there are plenty of better places to learn that. We will, however, take a look at the testing framework which is built into Go. Before we do that, let's just remind ourselves of the three laws of testing as defined by the awesome Uncle Bob Martin in his book Clean Code:
- First law: You may not write production code until you have written a failing unit test
- Second law: You may not write more of a unit test than is sufficient to fail, and not compiling is failing
- Third law: You may not write more production code than is sufficient to pass the currently failing test
