Language independence

Kite as a framework is predominately Go- and JavaScript-based. The JavaScript package (https://github.com/koding/kite.js) allows you to write a Kite in JavaScript, which would run on the server with NodeJS, or you can also use the plugin direct from the browser, which would enable you to build rich user interfaces.

Communicating with Kite from a language such as Ruby would require a degree of effort. Custom code would need to be written to interact with kontrol and to execute queries to the Kites. This would certainly be possible, and if you build this framework, please push it back to the open source community.
