So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
In this chapter, we got an overview of monolithic and microservices architectures. We then talked about the design patterns and principles and how they relate to serverless microservices. We also saw how to set up the AWS and development environment that will be used in this book.
In the next chapter, we will create a serverless microservice that exposes a REST API and is capable of querying a NoSQL store built using API Gateway, Lambda, and DynamoDB.
