It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
API Gateway security
Let's have a look at the following diagram:
API Gateway can be used to create a public-facing API without authentication, but sometimes you will want to restrict access. The following are are three different ways of controlling who can call the request authorization API:
- IAM roles and policies can be used to grant access to an API, where API Gateway verifies the caller's signature on the requests transparently.
- An Amazon Cognito user pool controls who can access the API. The user or service will have to first sign in to access the API.
