Feedback and Its Importance

The word “feedback” started in the early twentieth century and grew out of the broadcasting industry with the advent of microphones. Since inputs into the mics were called “feeds,” if there were “feeds” that came back through the system (usually when the mics too close to speakers or the volume of the mic was set incorrectly), you’d get an unpleasant, high-pitched sound.
