I began writing this book in August 2000. I quit a job as creative director of a small Internet company to do it, knowing for certain that there’d be another job like it waiting for me when I was done.
These were the days before the fall, when Business 2.0 and Wired were still publishing magazines as thick as catalogs and every day was a record day for the stock market. In the 10 months I’ve been working on this book, things have changed.
