When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How it works...
Under the hood, Docker will:
- Merge all the layers, that makeup that image using UnionFS.
- Allocate a unique ID to a container, which is referred to as the Container ID.
- Allocate a filesystem and mount a read/write layer for the container. Any changes on this layer will be temporary and will be discarded if they are not committed.
- Allocate a bridge network interface.
- Assign an IP address to the container.
- Execute the process specified by the user.
Also, with the default Docker configuration, it creates a directory (with the container's ID inside /var/lib/docker/containers), which has the container's specific information such as hostname, configuration details, logs, and /etc/hosts.
