The next aspect of answering the EDGE question “How should we invest?” is developing appropriate Measures of Success (MoS). Although your Lean Value Tree (LVT) statements are outcome-oriented, you have to determine how to measure those outcomes. Without definitive MoS, you’re left with flowery statements for which success or failure is arbitrary. It’s one thing to establish a goal; it’s quite another to identify an appropriate measure to both prioritize that goal against other investment demands and then monitor progress as initiatives move forward.
