A typical improvement proposal template can have the following 10 sections:
- Preamble: EIP begins with an RFC 822 style header preamble, as shown in Figure 11.7. EIPs may have a requires header. This indicates the EIPs on which this current EIP is dependent.
- Simple summary: This section provides a layman-approachable explanation of the EIP.
- Abstract: This is a short description of approximately 200 words to address the technical issue.
- Motivation: This section should clearly explain the present inadequacy of the protocol and how the proposal is going to mitigate or resolve it. Without sufficient motivation, an EIP can be rejected outright.
- Specification: This section describes the semantics and syntax of any new feature. The ...
