Exploring the OSI Reference Model

This section explores the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Reference Model. In 1977, the Open Systems Interconnection Committee was created with the goal of creating a new communication standard for networking. Based on several proposals, the OSI Reference Model was developed and remains applicable today. The OSI Reference Model is used mainly in today’s networking environment as both a reference model and an effective means of teaching distributed communication.
