Kristen awoke with a start and looked at the clock—3:30 A.M. After quick mental calculation, she realized that it was 9:30 P.M. back in New York. Ah, yes, the glamour of international travel, she thought. Looking over at the other bed in her hotel room, she realized that her assigned roommate had never come in. Having seen her at the reception last night, Kristen assumed that the rumor must be true: she's having an affair with an executive vice president. Risky for both of them. After trying every trick she knew to get back to sleep, Kristen finally got up and sent Eric an instant message: "R U awake?"
