I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Writing this book has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. In fact, I never intended to write a book, but after I retired from IBM in 2020, people urged me to share what I’d experienced. Personally, I was most passionate about an issue bigger than myself: the urgent need to prepare society to thrive in our digital era by creating more jobs for more people, and how the SkillsFirst movement can create economic opportunity for so many and heal divides. I thought a book helping to drive this type of societal change, filled with facts, studies, stories, descriptions of barriers, and implementation details, would find an audience.
