I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

The people and events of our youth influence how we work and lead. That’s why these first chapters tell the story of my childhood and early career. These are the faces and places I see when I close my eyes. My grandmother’s lamp store. My sisters at our kitchen table. A first date by a lake. Being the only woman in many rooms. From family to friends to first bosses, the people you’ll meet played outsize roles in shaping my character, values, and habits. I am me in part because of them.
These years also seeded three core beliefs, even if I couldn’t articulate them until much later: One, access to opportunities like education and employment can unleash our potential. Two, a propensity to learn new skills ...
