QuickShift
QuickShift is a 2D image segmentation algorithm that is based on an approximation of the kernelized mean-shift algorithm and is relatively recent. It belongs to the family of local (non-parametric) mode-seeking algorithms (based on the idea of associating each data point to a mode of the underlying probability density function) and is applied to the 5D space consisting of color space and image location.
QuickShift actually computes a hierarchical segmentation of multiple scales simultaneously, which is one of the benefits of this algorithm.
