It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Thrift
Apache Thrift is a binary communication protocol developed by Facebook. Despite the fact the protocol is binary, there are a lot of supported languages, such as C++, Go, and Java. Supported transports are file, memory, and socket.
