Acrobot is an actuated joint problem first developed by Richard Sutton in 1996:

The Acrobot environment is a robot arm that consists of two joints that connect two segments, the top joint rotating from the center of the screen.
The top shoulder joint of the Acrobot is actuated (controlled by a motor that can be rotated in any direction), but the lower elbow joint is unactuated and swings freely. The task is to swing the end of the lower segment to a given height by rotating the top joint.
