How Not to Go Around Your Boss
The April 2013 issue of Forbes magazine contained an article entitled, “At Age 25, Mark Cuban Learned Lessons About Leadership That Changed His Life.”[24] The article, written by Cuban himself, describes his early career. In it, he demonstrates an astonishing lack of corporate awareness in several ways, but one in particular is relevant here.
Cuban joined Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh right out of school as part of a team converting the bank from paper records to computerized systems. He says in the article, “a lot of my peers at Mellon were just happy to have a job. I wanted to be more entrepreneurial.” He, therefore, decided to take the initiative in several ways.
