4.7 Wavelet Families
In a practical way, wavelet decomposition is done using wavelet lters.
Varieties of wavelet lters are available, which are grouped under different
families (e.g., Haar, Daubechies, Coeiet, Morlet, Mayer, etc.). These wavelet
lters are based on the wavelet function, which satises all criteria.
The type of lter, its length, and the number of decomposition stages
should be considered when the wavelet transform is used for decomposition.
