Sensors for motor neuroprostheses

K.L. Kilgore,     MetroHealth Medical Center, USA

Abstract:

This chapter discusses the use of sensors in motor neuroprostheses, with a focus on the use of implantable sensors and sensor networks. The chapter reviews the unique requirements that motor neuroprostheses place on the use of sensors. The variety of sensor modalities that have been utilized are reviewed, including sensors used for command control and feedback control. Control algorithms and sensor signal processing techniques are covered. The chapter provides an in-depth review of implantable sensors in motor neuroprostheses. Neuroprosthetic system architecture is reviewed in view of the expanding use of sensors in motor neuroprostheses. A brief ...
