Introduction to LiDAR Remote Sensing
by Cheng Wang, Xuebo Yang, Xiaohuan Xi, Sheng Nie, Pinliang Dong
Preface
I came to know LiDAR when I started my doctoral research in France in March 2002, with the topic of vegetation mapping in the Venice wetlands using airborne LiDAR and hyperspectral data. Later I conducted post-doctoral research on extracting forest structural parameters using LiDAR data in the United States. In late 2009, I joined the Center for Earth Observation and Digital Earth (CEODE), Chinese Academy of Sciences, and built a research team on LiDAR remote sensing, focusing on extracting surface parameters from LiDAR data and quantitative applications of LiDAR data. Since then, I have supervised over 50 graduate students and delivered presentations on LiDAR remote sensing at universities, research institutions, and industries. Since ...
