17Being on a Team
When you work on a team, the situation is quite different from working alone. Now, in addition to doing your own work, you must mesh your efforts with those of your teammates. Your objectives also change. Instead of trying to be most efficient personally, your focus now is on making the team most efficient. This means that you will not always be able to do the tasks you prefer to do. You should, however, still do your assigned tasks to the best of your ability. This chapter discusses the issues of working on a team and describes how team membership affects your behavior. The chapter starts with a brief discussion of jelled teams and then covers two categories of team-member obligations.
