CHAPTER 7: MOBILE AND REMOTE WORKING

Mobile devices and remote working

ISO 27002 has two controls that deal with mobile devices (A.8.1, titled “User endpoint devices”) and remote working (A.6.7). Remote and hybrid working is today a widely used approach to leveraging the communications capabilities of modern technology. It is also a key contributor, particularly in the light of bring your own device (BYOD) policies, to the rapidly expanding attack surface, to which we referred earlier in this book. It is therefore a key area for organizations to address.

The protection required should, of course, be proportional to the risks identified (through a risk assessment). Many of the issues related to both mobile working and remote working are touched ...
