품질 게이트는 자동차 제조나 첨단 제품 생산 분야에 기원을 두고 있지만 최근에는 시스템 개
발 프로젝트와 순수 소프트웨어 개발 프로젝트까지 적용 분야를 넓히고 있다.
반복적으로 재생산되는 제품의 품질 게이트는 통계적으로 축적된 값에 의존한다. 이 값은 다음
번 프로젝트에서 관리 기준으로 활용된다. 소프트웨어 개발 프로젝트는 각각이 매우 독립적이
므로 이러한 사전 기준이 없다. 따라서 조립 생산 라인에 적용되는 레퍼런스 프로세스는 제한
된 범위에 한해 소프트웨어 개발 영역에 적용할 수 있다. 소프트웨어 개발에 국한된 특수한 문
