What’s Next?

We’re getting to the latter pages of this book, so it should be no surprise to you that I’m beginning to wrap things up. In the next chapter, I’m going to do a little hocus-pocus and let you know what I think is worth watching out for over the next year or so. Chapter 16 is my “Looking Forward” chapter, included for two reasons. The first is the obvious one: I want you to be ahead of the curve. The second, more interesting reason is to point out how quickly things change. This is particularly true in Java and XML, and I anticipate you and I will laugh at a few of the suggestions in the next chapter just a short year from now. In any case, it will help you think about what might be coming on the horizon, and give you some preparation for those important new technologies when they surface.
