In order to properly bill internal departments for resource usage, get better insights into deployed workloads, and improve reporting overall, tags can be applied to resources. Each resource may use up to 15 tags, with 512 characters each—enough to fit into the craziest accounting schemes.
Common tags include the person or team responsible for a resource, cost centers, project associations, and the environment of a resource. You can see in the following screenshot that there are three tags applied to the entire resource group in order to filter those resources or to bill them to specific cost centers.
