When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Terrain projections – slope maps
It is often best practice to convert the DEM data you are working with into the local projection, especially when deriving terrain products. In QGIS, right-click on the SRTM DEM layer and Export | Save as. Be sure to set the projection to EPSG:2964. The Save Raster Layer as... window should look similar to the following:

Now that we have a local projection DEM, we can run the Slope tool. In the toolbox, search for Slope. Fill in the parameters (Z factor is 1) and click on the run button. You should now have a slope raster in the table of contents. We will use this raster for the next ...
