When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Sampling a raster at point locations
You may have noticed that there are not just QGIS processing tools available in the toolbox. GRASS and SAGA GIS also have tools available. If you cannot see them in your toolbox, check the installation of QGIS and the version you are running. There is an option to run QGIS with GRASS when you install via OSGeo4W. In the following examples, open a new QGIS project with GRASS enabled (GRASS 7.4.2 at the time of writing). Load the aiports.shp and landcover.img layers into the Layers panel.
The GRASS tool v.sample allows us to sample a raster at specific point locations. Search for v.sample (the v stands for vector) in the toolbox. Let's sample the landcover layer at the airport locations. All we have to ...
