This is probably my most-used setup, with one very large softbox very close to our subject. The reasons are: (1) The 45° angle of the light is very flattering for most situations. (2) It’s an easy one-flash setup that sets up in just a few minutes. (3) The white seamless paper goes to a light gray because it’s not lit directly—it’s just getting a bit of light on it from the main flash spilling over onto the background.
